We welcomed Eagles back this week for the start of session 7, our summer session! We have a lot to look forward to this summer, with new themes every week, beach days, and field trips!
We rolled into the session with a wrap up of Writing Workshop and Art, as well as some testing, and summer themes will start next week!
Eagles got creative in art this week, finalizing the illustrations for their children’s books! Studios were busy painting background scenes, designing their characters, and loading them into their storyjumper books. Along with their art pieces, Eagles finalized their stories for Writing Workshop, received peer edits, and began formatting for their books. We’re excited to have them printed and bound, ready to read and share!
This week for the Apprenticeship Quest, LaunchPad got together and checked up on each other. Starting this week, they will be doing more one-on-ones with the guides than being together because of their diverse internships. Apprenticeships include everything from interior design to working with an author!
This week for PE, Eagles played hockey! They practiced shooting, passing and blocking before they played a game! The two Good Sport nominees were Emi and Kate! They were nominated because they, “worked their hardest and tried their best.”
This week the LaunchPad finished up The Elegance of the Hedgehog in Writing Workshop! They finished up their reading over the break and answered questions about the final pages of the book. The discussion at the end of the week was great as the ending was revealed! The LaunchPadders discussed both the ending and the meaning behind it, along with why this book is so loved or hated among different readers! LaunchPad had a great time reading this book as it was very different and suspenseful!
It was a packed week wrapping up the school year and getting caught up on work, before jumping into summer session. As well as our year end testing, that we made sure to liven up with fun snacks each day! Be sure to ask your Eagles about the Town Hall meeting to discuss the Acton Library, the end of week dodgeball game, and which summer theme they’re most excited for!
